*Job Summary:
The Hospitality Pool Engineer & Maintenance Specialist is responsible for the expert operation, maintenance, and repair of all swimming pools, spas, and water features within AIM’s client roster. This role ensures the highest standards of water quality, safety, operational efficiency, and guest satisfaction. The specialist will possess in-depth knowledge of pool filtration, chemical treatment, heating systems, and relevant health and safety regulations, ensuring all aquatic facilities are pristine, fully functional, and compliant at all times.
*Key Responsibilities:
Preventative Maintenance: Develop and execute comprehensive preventative maintenance programs for all pool equipment, including pumps, filters, heaters, chemical feeders, and automated control systems.
Water Quality Management: Perform testing of water chemistry (pH, chlorine/bromine, alkalinity, calcium hardness, cyanuric acid, etc.) and accurately adjust chemical levels to maintain optimal water balance and sanitation.
Equipment Operation & Repair: Operate, troubleshoot, repair, and replace pool pumps, motors, filters, heaters, chlorinators, ozonators, UV systems, and other related aquatic equipment.
Safety & Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to all local, state, and federal health and safety regulations pertaining to public swimming pools and spas, including ADA compliance. Maintain accurate records of water quality, maintenance activities, and incidents.
Energy Efficiency: Monitor and optimize pool systems for energy efficiency, identifying and implementing solutions to reduce operational costs without compromising guest experience or safety.
Emergency Response: Respond promptly to all pool-related emergencies, including equipment failures, chemical imbalances, and safety hazards.
Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other engineering and operations departments to ensure seamless facility operation and guest satisfaction.
Training & Development: Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in aquatic engineering and maintenance.
* Required Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Vocational training or certification in pool operation/maintenance, plumbing, HVAC, or a related field highly preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of specialized experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of commercial swimming pools and spas, preferably within a hospitality setting.
* Technical Skills:
In-depth knowledge of pool filtration systems, hydraulics, and water circulation.
Expertise in pool chemistry, water testing, and chemical dosing.
Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing various pool equipment (pumps, motors, heaters, automation systems, etc.).
Basic understanding of electrical systems related to pool equipment.
Familiarity with plumbing and PVC piping.
Knowledge of Regulations: Comprehensive understanding of public health codes and safety regulations applicable to swimming pools and spas.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure water quality, safety, and equipment integrity.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with guests, staff, and vendors.
Work Ethic: Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
Availability: Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts as needed.
* Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with automated pool control systems
Knowledge of sustainable practices in pool operations (e.g., energy-efficient pumps, alternative sanitization methods).
Experience in a luxury hotel or resort environment.
