Team Description

Reporting to the Regional Safety team, the Singapore Safety team supports Grab’s local business verticals and functions and is responsible for all safety-related aspects of the platform in Singapore. Leveraging on operational processes, strategic policy and product development, the safety team ensures that Grab is able to protect our users better.

Job Role and Purpose

Platform safety is Grab’s number one priority and you will be required to manage and influence stakeholders across the different functions and business verticals, both existing and emerging, to ensure that we deliver a safe experience for all users. Successful candidates will work on multi-dimensional and cross-functional projects to tackle real-time issues. Platform safety is not to be confused with workplace/occupational health and safety. We are focused on our external users - from drivers to passengers; merchants to consumers - and we seek to create a safer everyday for all of them as Grab grows to become an everyday superapp.

Key Day-to-Day Responsibilities

As a Safety Lead,

  • You will lead the Singapore Safety team to track, analyse and present data that forms the basis of how Grab monitors and benchmarks our safety performance and standards. You will identify trends and provide targeted solutions to address them.

  • You will work cross-functionally with different stakeholders across Grab - ranging from operations and customer experience teams, product managers and data analysts - to operationalise new technological and product developments in-app that are rolled out in Singapore to enhance safety for our users. The Emergency Button and Share-My-Ride functions in the Grab app are some examples of these safety products.

  • You will identify areas for potential collaboration and engage government agencies and industry partners to further improve Grab’s safety standards, for our users and the local community. You will work closely with the Public Relations and Public Affairs teams to plan and execute strategic projects and partnerships with these external organisations.

  • You will work closely with the local operations teams, ranging from Transport to Food, to ensure that safety incidents involving our users are managed decisively and properly. You will build and maintain operational processes to ensure the highest standards of safety and quality on our platform.

  • You will be expected to steer and influence the local leadership and management teams from different business verticals, through insightful analysis and meaningful initiatives, to ensure the safest experience for our all our users.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO HAVE:

  • Minimally bachelor's degree - 6+ years of experience.

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and executive presence to be able to influence leaders across the organization.

  • An analytical mindset to identify and critically analyse quantitative and qualitative patterns that are associated with safety trends.

  • The ability to present data comprehensively and accurately, with the drive to execute on actionable findings.

  • The breadth of thought to develop a variety of complex policies and procedures with minimal guidance to prevent and mitigate safety risks.

  • Excellent problem solving/decision making, communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A strong judgment and moral compass.

  • The flexibility to work cross-functionally, independently or virtually in a minimally structured and fast-paced environment.

  • Self-motivated to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and to meet deadlines.

  • Outstanding spoken and written communication skills.
