Senior Engineering Manager, Security

As the security engineering team at Grab, we focus on the problem of keeping our mobile apps and platform safe for our customers and for our partners. We develop systems that enable security and privacy features and cater to our security and investigation requirements. We build systems of massive scale and analyze huge volumes of data as part of our responsibilities.

Get to know the Role:
 

You will use your hands-on design and development abilities to manage a team of highly skilled developers.

• You would be creating and guiding a team of developers who would be working on building products that take care of security features for the Grab app and our customers

• You would use your technical abilities to inspire and guide the team to develop systems that could scale massively and process large amounts of data. (10+ TB a day)

• You would be working with different stakeholders in business and engineering to make sure that the product launches are meeting stringent quality, scalability and security requirements

• In this role, you will need to display team leadership, use interpersonal skills, and be able to get things done by handling a certain level of ambiguity.

• You should be able to explore uncharted territories as needed and explore/build solutions based on recent research and open-source software.

• You will need to clearly communicate high-level strategy and technical details effectively across disciplines, locations, and organizations, including senior leadership.

• You would display a strong bias for action; and an ability to juggle multiple priorities and build a sense of urgency in a dynamic environment.

• You should be able to focus on customer experience as a prime driver for the technical design.

The must-haves:

• Extensive software development expertise:  Should possess at least 10+ years of experience in software development and preferably product development. Should be hands-on with at least one major programming language.

• Excellent design skills: Should be well versed with designing complex and large scale online systems, that are cloud-native

• Experience building in the cloud: Should have experience in at least one of the cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP); a good understanding of DevOps/DevSecOps practices. Knowledge of containerized deployments and cluster management on Kubernetes

• Ability to learn quickly: You have a passion for technology and are able to pick up and learn new technological advances very quickly. Should be willing to learn new technologies quickly, such as a different programming language

• Leadership skills: You can demonstrate your experience in managing Engineering teams. You also have an excellent ability to distill problems to detailed plans and strategies. Experience leading a group of development managers is mandatory.

• Security knowledge: You have knowledge and experience in the area of anti-fraud engineering or Security. You have product building experience related to security products. This will be an added plus.

• Team Working: History of effectively working with and growing geo-distributed partner teams

• Data-Driven: Proven ability to make smart features versus time-to-market trade-offs; experience using data and metrics to back up assertions of business value.

• A Bachelor's/Master’s/PhD: in Computer Science, Mathematics or an equivalent quantitative discipline.
