Senior Engineering Manager-Developer Platform

The Developer Platform team at Grab is a part of the engineering scale family, and works across all backend, web and mobile teams at Grab, delivering top notch automation systems and tooling for enabling an ecosystem that supports faster and easier software releases and better scalability of our product.

We utilize industry-leading technologies like GoLang, Kubernetes, Spinnaker, Terraform, Docker, so there is always room to learn and to mentor.

Job role - What you’ll do:

• Manage a diverse team of passionate engineers at the core of Grab’s Engineering culture

• Work with the team to develop solutions that would eliminate any friction in development lifecycle.

• Conceive, design, deliver state-of-the-art tools & systems required to support rapid development of features, with the highest quality standards, for our global engineering organization.

• Help us shape the services required to support thousands of engineers and deliver our applications to millions of users around the globe.

• Be at the center of the transformation of our engineering culture.

• Deep, hands-on programming and technical design skills with demonstrated willingness and capability to learn new technologies quickly

The must haves:

• Burning desire to build magical experiences for our engineers

• 5+ years of software development management experience, preferably in large scale automation and DevOps systems

• A degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology or have similar experience.

• Demonstrated ability to design, build, and deliver complex, successful backend services and/or mobile, web frameworks

• Proven team leadership, interpersonal skills, and ability to get things done

• Ability to clearly communicate high level strategy and technical details effectively across disciplines, locations, and organizations, including to senior leadership.

• A basis for decision-making deeply rooted in analysis and measured information.

• Ability to act as an advisor, coach, mentor, and partner all at the same time.

• Strong bias for action; ability to juggle multiple priorities and build a sense of urgency in a dynamic environment.

• Able to attract, develop, and keep high quality multi-disciplinary teams.
