The Privacy engineering team is part of the information security team at Grab and we focus on the problem of keeping our data safe and preserve data privacy for our customers while adapting to the high speed growth of our business and our enormous scale. We are the team focusing on keeping interactions on our platform as simplified as possible using advanced engineering to inherently protect privacy and the data of our customers.
Get to know the Role:
You will drive the strategy and execution of our vision to provide trust and privacy for our customers
- You would be working with a set of talented engineers to envision and build a suitable set of features to enable our customers to control their privacy settings and confidentiality of the their data on our platform
- Your vision for these features will enable customers to choose how they would want to share their data for different forms of analytics and partner engagements
- You have to be passionate about data privacy and have to think about different technical solutions to manage user consent and drive the requirements for data anonymization and inherent privacy control
- You will research on the different options used in the industry for privacy control and will keep up to date knowledge on the latest academic research happening in this area.
- You will create the roadmap for the team and work with the different stakeholders in Data privacy office and legal to understand and translate the specific requirements coming from sovereignty laws and other such regulations.
- You need to work towards creating a simplified user experience for our customers, even while managing a complex set of preferences like privacy controls.
The day-to-day activities:
- You will collaborate with a cross-functional team of public policy, safety policy, legal, engineering, design, product marketing, research and communications, to develop new privacy and transparency products and improvements to ensure we are constantly improving how we serve our users
- Participate in technical and product review meetings.
- Produce Product requirements, specifications, and roadmaps for the Privacy initiatives
- Drive collaboration with the other product teams like the Passenger/Driver applications to incorporate appropriate privacy controls and adoption of the privacy platform.
- Review technical designs and provide feedback on feature implementation and other applicable aspects like scalability requirements (Non functional requirements)
The must haves:
- Product Building expertise: You have significant experience as a successful Product Manager in building large scale, highly available Internet and mobile applications. You have a track record of shipping end-user focused products.
- Privacy management experience: You have significant experience working on privacy products at a consumer technology company.
- Privacy or Security knowledge: You have knowledge and experience in the area of privacy engineering or Security. You can demonstrate deep down understanding of how to protect data and to preserve the privacy of data. Experience in working on data anonymization and differential privacy would be a plus.
- Ability to learn quickly: You have a passion for privacy protection and are able to pick up and learn new technological advances very quickly.
- Team Working: History of effectively working with and growing geo-distributed partner teams.
- Great Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate vision and roadmap to all stakeholders
- Data Driven: Proven ability to make smart feature versus time-to-market trade-offs; experience using data and metrics to back up assertions of business value. You have empathy for user problems, and an ability to distil insights into the right product answer
- A Bachelors/Master’s/PHD: in Computer Science, Mathematics or an equivalent quantitative discipline.
