The GrabFinancial Strategy and Planning team is a regional team that assists in the development of the business' long term objectives, setting its course, defining and managing performance metrics. The team works on specific strategic projects that are regional in nature, well as drives key planning and organizational milestones. By assessing a broad range of trends and issues that span across markets, customer, competitor, regulatory and technology insights, the team develops winning strategies that will have a significant impact on the company’s growth.
Get to know the Role:
- Lead a project or be team member for specific studies with direct contact with senior executives in the organization
- Providing analytical support to teams
- Define metrics and managing performance: Identify metrics that align with business drivers; set team goals; and track progress
- Drive key planning and organisational milestones
- For some projects travel may be necessary to support our colleagues across the six countries (up to 40%)
The day-to-day activities:
- Support teams at various stages; for example, providing a fact base, structuring and helping with issue identification and advising on the practicalities of implementation or leading actual execution
- Own a functional day-to-day responsibility typical in a strategy function while applying expertise to drive 1 or 2 high impact 'build the business' projects
- Conduct due-diligence on M&A/partnership opportunities and provide recommendation, working closely with corporate finance
- Develop deep understanding of what drives growth and efficiency for our business
- Develop short-term and long-term performance goals for the business
- Partner with the leadership team to communicate our objectives for budget approvals
- Help drive regular meetings – e.g. Executive Committee and Board meetings
The must haves:
- A degree with good honours from a top tier university
- Highly proficient in quantitative analyses and complex financial modelling - You enjoy absorbing large amounts of data and qualitative insights and can quickly develop a strong narrative that leads to recommendations and builds our understanding of the business
- Strong presentation skills including on power point/ work, suited for senior executives
- At least 2-3 years of top tier strategy/ management consulting experience or corporate strategy/ planning experience
- Prior experience in financial services or banking will be an added advantage
- Highly comfortable in an semi-structured environment and organisation that changes frequently
- A self-starter and independent learner who takes the initiative to challenge the status quo
- Ability to perform under pressure in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Entrepreneurship experience would be a bonus
