Get to know our Team:

The Econometrics team is responsible for optimizing the profit per ride across the various services for the country. Our Econometrics team will be driving improvements using data in all levers affecting profit per ride, including but not limited to: pricing, segmentation, promotional activities, and incentives. The Pricing team within Econometrics will be focused on optimizing our profitability per ride through optimal design of pricing schemes, as well as ad hoc initiatives targeting drivers and/or passengers.


Get to know the Role:

  • You will be responsible for monitoring and driving improvements in profit per ride for the business through better segmentation of passengers and drivers, and manipulation of pricing initiatives to optimize supply-demand interplay
  • You will get a chance to work directly with the business leads, product team, data analytics and data science to deliver tangible outcomes to the business
  • You will need to have excellent communication skills and executive presence. You will need to translate complex concepts into layman’s terms and persuade senior leadership and others to follow your lead. You will also need to help others understand your decisions around prioritization of work in the face of great demand for the insights and skill sets of the team
  • You will have to build and lead an elite analytical and operations team that also excels at translating analysis into action



The day-to-day activities:

  • Set the strategy and direction for the Indonesia Pricing Analytics team, clearly aligned with Grab’s business priorities
  • Drive meaningful and differentiated experiences for our passengers and drivers that deliver to the profit per ride bottom line
  • Define meaningful segmentation variables to improve organizational understanding of passengers and drivers, and their differential behaviour related to alternative pricing approaches
  • Initiate tests and analyses that enable Grab to improve overall Gross Merchandise Value in each Indonesia city
  • Leader within Indonesia market of Pricing. Evangelist on how pricing changes can be automated to help balance supply and demand while optimizing Grab overall profitability
  • Monitor competitive pricing actions across the various Grab services in each key Grab city in Indonesia, and recommend Grab response(s)
  • Act as a strong and influential advocate for Econometrics needs with our stakeholders, particularly when it comes to product features, technology, instrumentation and data dependencies
  • Roll up your sleeves and personally monitor and execute high-value analyses to drive day-to-day improvements in metrics
  • Outstanding and quick problem solving skills - You love a challenge and will take action to identify and implement solutions quickly
  • Attract, retain and develop a world class analytical team of Data Scientists
  • Collaborate with business, product and data stakeholders to develop and drive actions to improve profit per ride
  • Visibly lead the Econometrics organization’s engagement with the business; supporting and driving greater data-driven decision making and objective measurement of performance
  • Understand Pax segments, and how their behaviour and characteristics differ by segment with respect to pricing changes
  • Define the role that pricing plays in balancing Supply and Demand, and optimising our network profitability



The must haves:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical / quantitative field from a top-tier institution or equivalent work experience
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • High-energy personality. Great team player who works well in collaborative situations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication (including highly proficient in PowerPoint)
  • At least 3-5 years of experience working in Analytics (Finance, Sales Operations, Marketing Effectiveness)/ Management Consulting / Business Intelligence or related jobs
  • Tech or E-Commerce and Transportation industry experience preferred
  • Strong Excel skills is a must
  • Experience with Access, SQL and a statistical package (e.g. SAS, R) is a strong plus
  • Work experience with analytical tools, e.g. Tableau, Qlik, SiteCatalyst, Google Analytics or Microstrategy, is a strong plus
