Engineering Manager, Cluster Management

We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager that will help us to take cluster management at Grab to the next level. The Cluster Management team at Grab is a part of the engineering scale family, and works across all backend services teams at Grab, delivering top-notch orchestration/automation systems, tooling and best practices for ensuring that Grab’s compute clusters can be set up and operated in a very efficient manner. The team manages very exciting systems for Grab, like Terraform and Kubernetes, across multiple regions and multiple clouds.

Job role - What you’ll do:

• Manage a diverse team of passionate engineers at the core of Grab’s Engineering culture

• Work with the team to drive adoption of Kubernetes, Terraform and other tools across Grab

• Conceive, design, deliver state-of-the-art tools & systems required to support large-scale system operations environments across SEA region

• Help us shape the services required to support thousands of engineers and deliver our applications to millions of users around the globe.

• Be at the center of the transformation of our engineering culture.

• Have deep, hands-on programming and technical design skills with demonstrated willingness and capability to learn new technologies quickly

The must haves:

• Incredible passion for operational excellence with a laser-like focus on customers

• 7+ years of system operations management experience, preferably in large-scale distributed systems

• A degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology or have a similar experience.

• Proven team leadership, interpersonal skills, and ability to get things done

• Ability to clearly communicate high-level strategy and technical details effectively across disciplines, locations, and organizations, including to senior leadership.

• Ability to act as an advisor, coach, mentor, and partner all at the same time.

• Strong bias for action; ability to juggle multiple priorities and build a sense of urgency in a dynamic environment.

• Able to attract, develop, and keep high-quality multi-disciplinary teams
