The day-to-day activities:In an example working week you could be:
- Applying and explaining microeconomic theories, using first-principles thinking.
- Coaching and managing a team of up to 5 high-calibre economists & data scientists. You will need to be regularly testing the boundaries of their skills and knowledge while creating a safe environment for them to take risks.
- Quality assuring the analysis of a team using big data techniques. Grab Indonesia has a vast scale, so high quality analysis and decision making can have huge impacts on business performance and customer experience.
- Using your team’s analysis to persuade business decision makers to implement your idea.
- Respectfully challenging the status quo and intuitions of business stakeholders including the regional heads and the country heads.
- Prioritising your team’s time based on customer impact and business metrics
- Building strong relationships with Grab Leadership and using those relationships to enact change.
- Making strategic bets - evidence-based gambles that could prove to be game changers for Grab’s drivers and passengers.
- Being responsible for decisions and advice on multi-million dollar budgets.
- Helping to set and achieve stretching corporate financial objectives across the entire Indonesian market, including over 100 cities in Food, Transport, Logistics and Payments.
The must haves:- Bachelor’s degree in Economics or similar
- Well versed in at least one statistical programming language such as R, Stata or Python.
- At least 5 years in an economics, analytics, data science or similar role.
- Experience managing a team.
