The Advanced Engineering Manager will lead innovation initiatives within the Upholstery Engineering division, driving the shift from traditional wood-based construction to advanced technologies such as plastic blow-molded frames, quick-connect systems, and mechanized motion components. This role is critical in designing next-generation components, leading global R&D efforts, and preparing products for scalable, mass production.
Innovation & Development:
Lead the transition to plastic blow-molded frame technology and tool-less assembly systems.
Drive development of new motion mechanisms and advanced material solutions.
Co-develop innovations with the US team for global implementation.
Product & Component Design:
Oversee design and validation of next-gen components (structural parts, fasteners, mechanisms).
Promote modular, cost-efficient designs and explore advanced metal part manufacturing methods.
Team & Cross-Functional Leadership:
Build and lead a high-performance engineering team.
Align with Design, Manufacturing, Quality, and global teams (US, Vietnam, China) for seamless execution.
Process & Tool Development:
Implement modern tools (CAD, FEA, prototyping) and set standards for assembly validation.
Establish workflows that enable rapid innovation and design iteration.
Project Ownership:
Manage pilot programs from concept to launch.
Ensure targets for cost, timing, and performance are achieved.
Track material and manufacturing trends to guide R&D strategy.
1. Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Mechatronics, or related discipline required.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years in product or manufacturing engineering, including 3+ years in an advanced development or leadership role.
- Proven track record in innovation, new product introduction, or cross-functional engineering projects.
2. Technical Knowledge:
- Deep understanding of blow molding, injection molding, and metal part design.
- Experience with motion mechanism development and plastic-to-metal interface solutions.
- Proficient in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) and FEA tools.
- Knowledge of rapid prototyping methods, DFM (Design for Manufacturing), and PLM systems.
- Familiarity with global manufacturing and engineering standards.
