System Admin (Linux)

The Job

- Performs daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources (AIX/Linux/Wintel), systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs.
- Maintains AIX/Linux infrastructure environment, server equipment, firmware, and installs Operating System patches and upgrades on current and new projects.
- Perform Production release on AIX/Linux OS according to Prudential’s standards procedure
- Provides more in depth technical support (level two) to internal/external customers for all Production system issues. Escalates issues requiring advanced/expert knowledge and experience with appropriate systems.
- Monitor performance, capacity, available of SAN, VMware and timely advice and report to management level.
- Coordinate and communicate with others impacted team (Service desk, development, application support) to diagnoses, repairs and remediates bottleneck issues and hardware or software failures. Participate in root-cause analysis of recurring issues, system backup, and security setup.
- Provides data protection, recovery and business continuity, tests and validates disaster recovery and business continuity methods in AIX/Linux environment. Performs routine backup and recovery for data protection and integrity for all AIX/Linux servers.
- Provide Month end support per Business request and assignment from management.
- Incident Management, Service Request Management, Problem Management must be follow standard process via Remedy Force tool.
- Follow Prudential’s change control process for planning and implementing system change.
- Timely report to line manager and escalate potential issues to others support team.
- Timely update CMDB every have change on servers site (New, Replace, decommission).

Your Skills and Experience

- At least 4 years’ experience in AIX, Linux (Red Had), Sun Solaris, IBM AIX, HP-UX
- Experience on hardware and software configuration, LPARs/DLPARs/VIOs.
- Experience on Dual VIOs along with Partitions created using NPIV.
- Experience on HACMP (clustering).
- Capability of troubleshooting performance issues. System Security, integration, analysis, architecture & support skills.
- Experience in Wintel server OS (SCCM, DNS, AD, Group Policy, DHCP…) is an advance
- Knowledgeable in SAN/VMWare environments & backup systems, e.g. VERITAS
Knowledge and skill set:
- ITIL knowledge especially in the areas of Incident Management, Problem Management and Change Management
- Knowledgeable Microsoft Windows Installer (MSI) ; Windows Server(2008/2012) SCCM, AD, DNS, Group policies ; SQL Server (2005/2008/2012
- Good English skills (Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing)
- Strong business oriented spirit and delivery processing skills
- Performance monitoring and optimization techniques.
- Back and restore concepts and techniques
