Our unique programs embed theory and technical skills within creative and professional practice to ensure that graduates are both knowledgeable and work-ready.

DEPARTMENT OF DESIGN

FASHION DISCIPLINE

The fashion department at RMIT Vietnam is engaged in a period of strategic development and we are looking for people who are positive and passionate about teaching fashion to join us as hourly paid lecturers. The department offers a Bachelor of Fashion (Merchandise Management) that is unique in Asia. The bachelors programme equips students with the balance of creative and business skills required for employment in the local and global fashion and textiles industry. Key areas covered in the programme include: marketing, merchandising, design, fashion trends, product development, visual merchandising, fashion materials, supply chain and logistics. Central to the student experience is the internship which they complete prior to graduation. We work closely with the local and international industry and are in the process of expanding our offer to include short courses, seminars and study abroad opportunities. The department has recently invested in the latest industry software and new resources. Our academic staff conduct research into areas such as sustainability, advanced materials and protective textiles.

OUR REQUIREMENTS

• Master Degree (for Associate Lecturer) or PhD (for Lecturer level) roles.
• At least 5 years relevant experience, teaching in a University environment (applicable to expatriate candidates only)
• Proven teaching proficiency in one or more fashion courses including:
• Product development
• CAD/CAM
• Supply chain management
• Distribution and logistics
• Product specification
• Fashion merchandising
• Pattern cutting
• Fashion marketing and communications
• Fashion design
• Fashion retail
• Actively engaged in fashion practice.
• Recognized research and/or exhibition profile.
• Strong team player with an inclusive and collaborative approach.

Please note:

English is the language of teaching and communication at RMIT Vietnam. For this role, the minimum requirement is IELTS 7.0 (or equivalent).

For Full time and Part time remuneration levels, we pay on a ‘total fixed remuneration’ basis (TFR), which means that the salary stated is your total remuneration. Our remuneration levels are as follows:
