Get to know the Role

As the GrabWheels Regional Safety Manager, you will be responsible for managing all safety aspects of Grab’s Personal Mobility Device business. This will require continual development and innovation to business processes, policies and product.

  • Safety is Grab’s number one priority, so you will be expected to manage multi-dimensional and cross-functional projects to ensure that we deliver a safe ride experience for all users. You will also help to influence the overall strategic direction of GrabWheels by supporting leadership with safety insights and advisory.

  • “Safety” in this context is not to be confused with workplace/occupational health and safety. We are focused on our external users - i.e. riders - and we seek to create a safer everyday for all of them as we grow our business.

 

The day-to-day activities:

  • Steer regional leadership and local management teams along the organization’s safety mission and principles.

  • Track / analyse data and present insights to inform how we monitor and benchmark safety performance and standards. With these insights, the successful candidate will develop and implement offline and online initiatives / programmes, both regionally and locally, to address these safety issues.

  • Work cross-functionally with different regional and local stakeholders across Grab - ranging from Operations and Customer Experience teams, Product managers and Data analysts - to operationalise new technological and product developments to enhance safety for GrabWheels users.

  • Identify areas for potential collaboration with government agencies / industry partners to further improve GrabWheels’ safety standards, both for our users and the local community. This will require close collaboration with the Public Relations and Public Affairs teams to plan and execute strategic projects / partnerships.

  • Work closely with local Operations and Customer Experience teams to ensure that safety incidents are managed decisively and properly. Operational processes - ranging from the reporting of safety incidents, escalating to stakeholders and managing affected parties - will need to be developed / maintained to ensure the highest standards of safety and quality on our platform.

 

The must haves:

  • At least 5 years of relevant working experience, 2 of which involve leading a team

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and executive presence to influence senior leadership

  • Analytical mindset to identify and critically analyse quantitative and qualitative patterns that are associated with safety trends

  • Ability to present data comprehensively and accurately, with the drive to execute on actionable findings.

  • Flexibility to work cross-functionally and across different markets, independently or virtually, in a minimally structured and fast-paced environment.

  • Breadth of thought to develop a variety of complex policies and procedures with minimal guidance to prevent and mitigate safety risks.

  • Passion to ensure a safe ride experience for our riders

  • Prior experience in Risk Analysis / Management

  • Relentless drive to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and to meet deadlines.

  • Strong judgment and moral compass.

  • Outstanding spoken and written communication skills.

 

Preferred:

  • Experience in a regional cross-functional role

  • Prior start-up experience

  • Prior experience in internet or, consumer and technology company
