Position Summary

This position manages and organizes all water sports, recreation activities and coordination and scheduling of all excursions. Create memorable experiences for guests by providing excellent service according to The Grand Ho Tram Strip Core and Culture Standards.  All responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with departmental and company policies, practices and procedures, as well as within the framework and intent of the Vision of The Grand Ho Tram Strip property.

Responsibilities

• The ability to manage and oversee the Recreation Department and all it entails including organizing excursions, food and beverage, transportation, activities, etc.
• Maintain a safe working environment and abide by all health department regulations.
• Oversee the cleanliness of the Recreation Building, Excursion Desk and Water Sports areas and coordinates special requirements with Housekeeping, Laundry and Engineering.
• Promote and upsell excursions to guests, customizing where necessary to meet and exceed guests’ needs.
• Develop people, including line staff, apprentices, supervisors and managers to the next step.
• Ability to interact with guests, providing full knowledge and assistance for maximum guest usage in an outgoing and positive, but unobtrusive, manner.
• Resolve guest concerns or opportunities in a timely manner with the highest level of professionalism.
• Review daily arrivals to ensure proper handling of VIP's, Return Guests, groups, etc.
• Ensure adherence to all corporate standards of a health and fitness center, including locker rooms and kids club.
• Ability to seamlessly integrate the Recreation Department within the hotel operations.
• Knowledge and proficiency of all relevant computer programs and systems.
• Execute the tasks of a Water Sports, Kid’s Club, or Health Club Attendant as needed.
• Interview and select job applicants as well as supervise, discipline and complete performance evaluations.
• Schedule staff and complete payroll records in accordance with budgeted guidelines.
• Schedule and orchestrate monthly departmental staff meetings to ensure proper inter and intra departmental communication.
• Ensure maximization of revenues and control of expenses in all areas under control.
• Able to issue recommendations regarding the annual operating budget, capital investment budget, operating planning and further periodic evaluations of financial performance, including reports on sales and operations with supporting statistical data.
• Work closely with Engineering to maintain proper standards of hygiene and functioning of equipment.
• Order supplies, including all gym and sports equipment, kid’s games and toys, as well as all health club supplies required for smooth operation.
• Reconciles invoices from outside contractors.
• Respond properly in any hotel emergency or safety situation.
• Perform any other tasks or projects as assigned by hotel management and staff.
• Responsible for the planning, promotion and accountability of departmental training. Including, but not limited to, the annual training plan in response to identified gaps in your department’s knowledge and performance as measured in the Richey reports and the occurrence of Glitches and Guest Feed back.
• Schedule and conduct regular and targeted departmental training for all levels. Facilitating Supervisory, and Employee training sessions and any such courses related to your field of expertise.
• Ensures the departmental Designated Trainers are conducting orientations and fully integrating new employees into the running of the outlet and are prepared to pass the probationary period.
• Trained and certified in First-Aid, CPR and rescue techniques.
