Get to know the Role:
Grab Philippines is looking for a dynamic and roll-up-your-sleeves Public Affairs Manager to steer high-impact initiatives and partnerships with the aim of building and strengthening relationships with key stakeholders in public and private sectors and establishing a clear understanding of, acceptance and advocacy for what we do in Grab to improve mobility for all Filipinos and the digitization of key services towards smarter cities in the country.
Reporting directly to the Head for Country Public Affairs, the Public Affairs Manager will be an excellent communicator with strong connections in the bureaucracy and with a good understanding of the dynamic within the transportation industry as well as ecommerce and fintech.
Building upon the previous successes of Grab, this person will continue to align the company’s business goals to regulatory compliance and social impact initiatives so that they consistently hum to the same tune.
The day-to-day activities:
- Strengthen Grab’s social mission and impact in the communities it serves
- Strategic advisory - Define a clear social mission and develop a strategic action plan and
- initiatives to achieve this social mission regionally
- Make an impact - Collaborate with the team to plan, launch and execute social good
- initiatives and campaigns that help us achieve our social mission
- Measuring social impact - Develop relevant metrics to measure our social impact and
- help to evangelize the impact
- Establish strategic partnerships - Establish key partnerships with local governments,
- public sector organizations and the private sector to help GrabTaxi achieve its social
- mission
- Communicate via social media and PR - Collaborate with the Marketing team to increase awareness of our social mission through social media initiatives; Develop PR campaigns & amp; communications to advocate our policy positions
- Support strategic advisory on public affairs - Work with the PA Team, the local country team and verticals to establish a clear mission and develop a strategic action plan and initiatives to achieve set PA goals
- Establish and manage strategic government relations & partnerships - establish key partnerships with relevant governments stakeholders, serve as our team liaison with government stakeholders and represent our team at key government meetings and events to help the team achieve goals mission.
- Conduct legislative and policy research, draft policy proposals and bills in support of our lobby work
- Manage key partnerships with community stakeholders in public and the private sector - Establish key partnerships with public sector organizations and the private sector to help the organization achieve its goals and targets
- Collaborate with the internal team to plan, launch, execute and/or evaluate social impact initiatives and/or campaigns that help us achieve our social mission
- Communicate via social media and PR - Collaborate with internal PR and Marketing team to increase awareness of our social mission through social media initiatives; Develop relevant, strategic PR campaigns & communications to advocate our policy positions
The must haves:
- 6-8 years of experience in Corporate Law, Government Affairs, or working in the public sector
- Strong planning and project management skills
- Strong experience on interacting with government stakeholders with the skill to build and sustain good, personal rapport at the highest levels
- Experience in lobby work, legislative research and drafting of policies is a distinct advantage
- Exposure to working for a fast-paced technology company or government regulator are also key advantages
- Superb conversationalist with excellent non-verbal communications skills
- Super sharp, intelligent thinker with excellent strategic thinking skills
- Proactive and creative problem solver with an ability to adapt well and respond to a fast-past environment
- A real team player skilled in delivering results
- Calm and focused under pressure
- Possesses excellent communications skills in both English and Filipino
