Grab Ventures is the venture building and venture investments arm of Grab. We incubate new businesses within Grab and also partner with dynamic tech startups globally through strategic investments and startup programs. We are looking for a rockstar to join our Programs & Investments team, focusing on our strategic investments mandate. Learn more about our work here

Job Description:

Investments (70%):

• Deal sourcing and market intelligence:

  • Deeply plugged into the regional startup ecosystem (founder meetings, startup events and conferences)

  • Recommend good quality deals for Grab Ventures to invest in through active research and strong on ground presence

  • Act as a key source of technology trends and market insights for the team

• Analysis & deal execution :

  • Prepare executive-ready insights from sector and company assessments spanning several sectors and geographies

  • Build and present investment thesis to investments committee

  • Analyze company information from data rooms

  • Build financial models for forecasting and valuation

  • Support deal negotiation and diligence activities

• Deal flow management :

  • Manage investments pipeline day-to-day and summarize for internal reviews

Programs (30%):

• Program planning :

  • Support executive decisions on planning strategic themes for Grab Ventures Velocity (GVV) batches

  • Propose design improvements to the program through strong understanding of startup needs

• Startup sourcing and assessment :

  • Mobilize startup ecosystem connections to source and onboard highly investible startups on to GVV program

  • Support startup assessment and selection process through analysing and summarizing business data

  • Perform closer assessment of startups during pilot engagement and present investment thesis for select to investments committee

We invite candidates meeting below criteria to apply:

• A minimum of 3 years of investing experience at tier-1 VC (most preferred), PE, M&A teams or exposure to investments at consulting or investment banking firms

• Strong academic credentials

• Experience with financial modeling and investment deal activities

• Natural relationship builder ; must demonstrate the aptitude to develop and own relationships within the startup ecosystem (founders and investors alike)

• Experienced and energized working in fast-paced and unstructured work environments

• High degree of comfort with change and openness for exposure to other parts of the business like venture building and startup programs

• Self-starters comfortable structuring and managing their day-to-day work independently and effectively

• Indonesian / Bahasa speaking candidates preferred

• Demonstrated interest in tracking venture capital and entrepreneurial finance space

• Flexible with regional travel at least 50% of the time

• Experience building technology startups is a plus
