Get to know the Role

• Define and shape the fundamentals of engineering at Grab

• Build safe, robust and reliable development resources and elevate the collective level of code quality.

• Lead the journey towards Continuous Delivery by enabling teams across Grab to test and deploy their code with confidence. You will build frameworks and pipelines that will equip us to achieve CD.

The day-to-day activities:

• Engineer software system that solves a business problem, or solves a range of problems.

• Work on software design / architecture geared towards scale and performance.
• Participate in code and design reviews to maintain our high development standards.
• Collaborate with product and experience teams to define and prototype feature specifications.
• Work closely with infrastructure team in building and scaling backend services as well as performing root cause analysis of system issues.
• Learn full stack performance tuning and optimization.
• Debug and modify complex, production software.

The must haves:

• Min 3 years of professional experience working as a backend engineer.
• Strong Computer Science fundamentals including data structures and algorithms, databases, operating systems.
• Familiarity with running large scale web services; understanding of systems internals and networking.
• Possess excellent communication, no exception on this.
• You can be a good coder in any language, but must be willing to work on Go (aka Golang)
• Enthusiasm with economics, big data and machine learning will help, though it’s not a requirement.
