Grab’s lending business (GFSA – Grab Financial Services Asia) is a recent addition to Grab that focuses on extension of micro credit to the under-served community with respect to financial services. GFSA team is a combination of strong talent pool in its Regional Hub (Singapore) and deep local market operators across its focus markets. We are incredibly excited about the opportunity ahead of us. GFSA team is responsible for end-to-end conceptualization, design, development, execution and ongoing management of all lending activities in its focus markets and segments.

The Country Credit team is responsible for setting up and executing the credit risk management policies and procedures while working closely with the Country Head, and Regional Credit Risk team to assist in shaping the use of data and technology in risk management methodologies. The individual joining the Country Credit team will have the unique opportunity to rapidly grow professionally as the team embarks on this new journey across all aspects of the credit risk.

Get to know the Role:

  • Assists the Country Credit Risk Manager in developing an end to end robust portfolio quality & fraud infrastructure; including design, execution and maintenance of process automations.

  • Works closely with the Senior Risk Analyst and Country Credit Risk in the metrics and dashboard monitoring reports given that the “automation” process should line up with the business goals, metrics, etc.

  • Takes the lead in country automation requirements such as (but not limited to) – Whitelisting, Day2 checks (all disbursed loans meet especially since at the start this is a manual process), rejects analysis, etc.

  • Takes ownership in the creation and maintenance of fraud analysis models to improve approval rates, improve process turnaround time, etc.

  • Takes ownership of determining fraud trends by analyzing accounts and transaction patterns

  • Identify system improvements to prevent fraudulent activities

  • Recommend anti-fraud processes for changing transaction patterns and trends

  • Recommend new software tools used for fraud detection, prevention and reporting activities

  • Works closely with the Country Credit Risk team in the real-time monitoring of overall PH portfolio quality across DAX/PAX/MEX segments.

  • Works closely with Country Risk Team in creating, designing, managing, etc. the local scoring model in alignment with the Regional Credit Risk Team.

  • Works closely with the Credit Risk Manager in monitoring credit performance to identify underwriting weaknesses; identify automation opportunities for flagging fraud while also creating flags for maximum opportunities.

  • Works closely with the Senior Credit Risk Analyst other modelling requirements such as, but not limited to IFRS9, ECL provisioning, etc. that may be applicable to PH environment; in alignment with PH Credit Risk Head, Regional Credit Risk Team and Regional Data Science Team.

  • Assists in designing and implementation of reports and performance measurement dashboards for senior management with the relevant insights to enable senior management to make an informed decision.

  • Assist in the creation, design, etc. od employee performance metrics, dashboard and scorecard – processed by credit ops employee, TAT, quality of portfolio at employee level.

  • Collaborates closely with Country Credit Risk Manager in using alternative data within or outside GRAB eco-system and determine the viability to be included into the credit model in view of complexity and dynamics of each product segment (DAX/PAX/MEX).

  • Assists Country Credit Risk Manager in ensuring that credit processes and operations are in adherence to local regulations and local licensing requirements. Aligns with Country Compliance Officer as necessary.

  • Coordinates with the country operations and collections unit in development and implementation of data collection, data analytics and other strategies to analyze statistical efficiency and guide decision-making.

  • Performs related projects and tasks as may be assigned.


The must haves:

  • A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Risk Management, or relevant background – unsecured lending environment.

  • Minimum 5+ years relevant work experience in credit policy, credit analytics or credit underwriting role in an unsecured lending environment

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize and analyze significant amount of information with attention to detail and accuracy

  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings

  • Very strong problem identification and solving mindset

  • Has strong credit process and credit risk “hindsight” and “foresight”

  • Objective and steadfast, able to see and communicate the big picture and has overall clarity on “what is the right thing for the overall business.”

  • In the same manner, able to identify areas and points that he needs clarity on and need help and has no issues reaching out to immediate supervisor or authorized/qualified person.

  • Self-motivated and independent learner who is willing to share knowledge with the team

  • Able to work with minimal supervision. Able to establish a certain degree of self-sufficiency and delivers work in a timely and accurate manner since this is a qualitative as much as it is a quantitative role.

  • Detail-oriented and efficient time manager who thrives in a dynamic and dynamic working environment

  • Accountable (self, team, business), reliable, dependable, trustworthy, solid integrity

  • Technical expertise regarding data models, data mining and segmentation techniques.

  • Ability to conceptualize and execute credit scoring using non-conventional alternative data.

  • Foundation in data query/manipulation using SQL and data visualization using tools like Tableau

  • Programming languages like SAS, R, Python, SPSS, Matlab or other tools for statistical analysis

  • Master's degree in a quantitative field.

  • Team player, reliable and with impeccable integrity
