The day-to-day activities:
- Independently own regression suites, provide sign-offs on releases and deliver quality with automated tests
- Keep up-to-date on upcoming feature changes and guide team writing scalable and robust code
- Mentor peers by suggesting best practices in coding and tool evaluation depending on the project
- Provide continuous support in maintaining automation frameworks and infra by keeping them up-to-date.
- Provide tools for automated and scalable setup, mentor QA team to use tools that ease their work and improve efficiency
- Guide team in owning regression suites and automate the test cases
- Understand the product/feature in-depth and help peers to get along the same page.
- Working closely with stakeholders from various engineering teams to understand the feature and implement smart solutions to automate the same
- Improve framework capabilities, optimize execution times, streamline automated tests
- Debug failed automated test cases by analyzing logs and API responses and report bugs with details. Follow-up on bugs to closure.
The must haves:
- Bachelor in Computer Science or Equivalent Degree with at least 5-10 years of relevant working experience as an Automation Engineer
- Expertise in OOPS concepts among any of the programming languages. For Eg: Java, Ruby, Python, Typescript
- Expertise in Design patterns and creating robust and scalable frameworks/tools as necessary
- Expertise in any of the Open/proprietary Automation tools such as Selenium, Appium, Sahi, XCUITest and Espresso
- Expertise in any of the Testing Frameworks like Mocha, TestNG, Cucumber
- Expertise in Front-end and Back-end services to enable rapid debugging and reactively raise issues
- Expertise in Automating Android, iOS Mobile apps and APIs preferably.
- Sound knowledge in cloud infra setup.
- Should be able to Identify gaps in manual testing approaches and fill-in the gaps by suggesting enhancements testing practices
- Should have a deeper understanding of the product at implementation level, should be able to analyze logs and API responses in Microservice integration level.
- Should have exposure to Agile and weekly sprint and release working models.
- Should have sound knowledge on Tools like: Charles, Postman, UI Automation Tools(Selenium, Appium etc..), Testing Frameworks (Mocha, TestNG etc.. )
- Should have experience in handling a small team and demonstrate leadership skills
- Ability to clearly communicate high level strategy and technical details effectively across disciplines, locations, and organizations, including to senior leadership
- Strong bias for action; ability to juggle multiple priorities and build a sense of urgency in a dynamic environment
- Excellent communication skills - very good at inter and intra-team communication
- Team player who endorses collaborative work style
