Senior Associate, Special Projects (Lending)

Grab’s lending business (GFSA – Grab Financial Services Asia) is a recent addition to Grab’s array of product and service offerings focused on extension of Micro credit to drivers, agents and merchants in Grab’s ecosystem. GFSA team is a combination of strong talent pool in its Regional Hub (Singapore) and deep local market operators across its focus markets. We are incredibly excited about the opportunity ahead of us. We are looking to put together the best possible combination of business build drive, industry expertise and local market depth as part of our team. GFSA team is responsible for end to end conceptualisation, design, development, execution and ongoing management of all lending activities in its focus markets and segments.

Get to know the Role:

• Lead a project or be team member for specific studies with direct contact with senior executives in the organization

• Providing analytical support to GFSA team

• Define metrics and managing performance for GFSA: Identify metrics that align with business drivers; set team goals; and track progress

• Drive key planning and organisational milestones

• For some projects travel may be necessary to support our colleagues across the six countries (up to 40%)

Day-to-day activities:

• Own cross-functional projects within lending business, working closely with Commercial, Risk, Technology and Product team

• Manage projects with other verticals within Grab (e.g. Transport, Food, Payment), working closely with senior leaders in each vertical

• Conduct due-diligence on M&A/partnership opportunities for lending business and provide recommendation, working closely with Corporate Finance

• Develop deep understanding of what drives growth and efficiency for our business

• Develop short-term and long-term performance goals for the business

• Help drive regular meetings – e.g. Executive Committee and Board meetings

Must haves:

• Strong business acumen to lead a wide range of projects across functions (Corporate Finance, Strategy, Marketing, Operations)

• Highly proficient in quantitative analyses and complex financial modelling - You enjoy absorbing large amounts of data and qualitative insights and can quickly develop a strong narrative that leads to recommendations and builds our understanding of the business

• Strong presentation skills including on PowerPoint, suited for senior executives

• Highly comfortable in an semi-structured environment and organisation that changes frequently

• A self-starter and independent learner who takes the initiative to challenge the status quo

• Ability to perform under pressure in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

• Strong passion in promoting financial inclusion and empowering micro-entrepreneurs in Southeast Asia

• At least 3-4 years of top tier strategy/ management consulting, investment banking or corporate strategy/ planning experience

• Prior experience in financial services or banking will be an added advantage

• A degree with good honours from a top tier university

• Entrepreneurship experience would be a bonus
