The regional safety team supports the entire organization across multiple geographies and business units. We are responsible for all safety-related aspects of the platform, through continual development and innovation to the business processes, policies and products. We also help influence the overall strategic direction of the company by supporting the top management with safety insights and advisory. ​​



Get to know the Role:

The Country Safety Lead is responsible to the company to develop and drive safety strategies that helps steer the overall direction of the company.

- Leads the development, planning and implementation of country safety programs which directly impact safety for all internal and external stakeholders, as well as the brand value:

  • Scans internal and external environment for safety gap analysis and advises top leadership on strategies to mitigate risks or gain a competitive advantage
  • Develop country-level safety strategies and initiatives
  • Drive overarching safety management plans, and enforce safety policies and procedures for the country
  • Audit business processes to ensure align to safety policies and procedures
  • Plan and implement safety projects to enhance business efficiency and/or value

- Organizes and directs Contingency Response Teams and supporting activities during serious incidents or crises – with the aim to keep reputational risks to minimum:

  • Responds to P1/P2 incidents escalated by CE or national news affecting company
  • Organises appropriate personnel into crisis committee
  • Be the on-ground company spokesperson to media/ regulators/ injured parties (if needed)
  • Oversees insurance claims/ compensation to injured parties (if needed)

- Tracks and analyses occurrences of serious incidents, crises and accidents:

  • Responsible for safety KPIs for the entire region
  • Actively monitor and reports incident trends and metrics for management review
  • Recommends and works with business owners on corrective/ preventive actions
  • Ensures compliance with local safety regulations and handles all enquiries from the respective agencies, including workplace safety for employees:

    Manages protection for personnel and company property

    May arrange for extra protection for key employees

    Develops and implements security procedures for physical premises

Develop country safety training content and deliver training for driver partners

  • Develop country-specific training materials in local language (as needed)
  • Oversee employment and quality of third-party training vendors
  • Audits internal or external trainers regularly through standard quality checklist

- Supports country businesses with following quality assurance initiatives:

  • Monitoring of pool of drivers below minimum star ratings
  • Monitoring and action on drivers with safety risk flags
  • Audits registration and sales processes to ensure proper documentation and communication of Code of Conduct to driver partners

- Drives country safety or quality accreditation premising on industry best practices and recommendations from certification bodies

- Directs and supports country marketing efforts to increase safety perception of brand:

  • May need to generate write-ups of safety initiatives and events for media coverage.
  • May need to co-organise safety campaigns/events with country marketing team

- During P1/P2 incidents, will be assigned as on-ground company spokesperson to media/ regulators/ injured parties (as needed)






The day-to-day activities:

  • Support the safety function in your country cluster;
  • Advise the leadership and management teams on safety matters;
  • Support overarching safety management plans and projects;
  • Develop safety training content and deliver training for driver partners;
  • Implement safety policies and processes;
  • Work with product team to continually innovate on the safety features of app;
  • Actively monitor the safety KPIs for your country and develop early preventive measures;
  • Develop and implement monitoring system for safety incidents;
  • Conduct regular training to strengthen internal incident response capabilities and crisis resiliency;
  • Adhere to safety audit roadmap premising on industry best practices and recommendations from safety accreditation bodies;
  • Be a passionate advocate for road safety for both users and drivers.





The must haves:

  • Minimally bachelors degree holder. Over all 5 to 10 years experience
  • Risk management experience – at least 5 years
  • Security, safety/traffic regulatory, insurance or training background
  • Experience in strategic thinking about the bigger picture and how we can improve as a company – at least 5 years
  • Proven project leadership and resource management experience – at least 5 years​
  • Analytical mindset with ability to present and execute on actionable findings;
  • Critically observant about safety trends;
  • An ability to execute policies and procedures with minimal guidance to prevent and mitigate safety risks;
  • Passion about safety training for driver partners;
  • Possessed excellent problem solving/decision making, communication and interpersonal skills;
  • An ability to manage investigations, some complex and highly sensitive, individually or as part of a team covering all areas of the business;
  • An ability to work independently or virtually in a minimally structured and fast-paced environment;
  • Self-motivation to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and to meet deadlines;
  • Proficiency in productivity tools (email, calendar, Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Solid spoken and written communication skills;
  • Willingness to travel on ad-hoc basis as and when expected;
  • Experience with law enforcement, government or private sector counterparts preferred;
  • Conflict resolution experience preferred Project management experience preferred;
  • Security, law, traffic regulatory, insurance or safety training background;
  • Experience in engaging across Asian markets and cultures;
  • Start-up experience a plus;
  • Existing network of private and public sector contacts a plus.​
