Get to know the Role:
 

Support the GrabFood City GM and Strategy and Planning team in formulating strategy and key initiatives for GrabFood to grow in Medan. You will draw on your analytics and business knowledge, available metrics, insights from teammates, and your industry experience to know where to best focus quantitative efforts for maximum impact. You will be in charge of monitoring our competitor’s initiatives and assessing our corresponding plan of action based on external and internal factors.

The day-to-day activities:

  • You will work with large data sets and derive business recommendations through compelling statistical evidence-based research and visualization
  • Run SQL queries, provide reports or updates
  • Define key metrics and performance measurement dashboards to evaluate the health of our business teams & programs
  • Discover & drive program initiatives through data driven recommendations and partner with cross-functional teams to implement/launch them
  • Manage data models to bring order and insight to complex data-sets
  • Leverage existing Python, R and/or other visualization tools to design and develop new user-facing tools & dash-boarding systems to empower partner teams
  • Communicate findings from data and analyses to senior City stakeholders, influencing them to make the best decisions possible
  • Perform analysis & research plans to support decision making process
  • Create SOPs to analyze competitor initiatives and derive the best strategies to make sure we extend our leadership position


The must haves:

  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g. Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics), or equivalent experience
  • Advanced written and spoken English
  • 1-2 years of work experience in consulting or a technology-related analytical role
  • Curiosity and passion for Grab
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience solving ambiguous problems using data and providing practical business insights
  • Strong process-oriented skills and drive to find the most efficient way to do things without sacrificing a high quality of work and/or results
  • Proficiency in SQL & Excel
  • Ability to partner cross-functionally with engineering, marketing, operations, product management, and/or sales
  • Familiarity with Python, R or a similar scripting language for analytical contexts is a plus
  • Experience in working with large data sets and distributed computing tools (Presto, Athena) is a plus
