Experience:
1. Technical Feasibility & Engineering Support
- Review product concepts to ensure manufacturability, structural integrity, and cost optimization.
- Apply DFM (Design for Manufacturing), DFL (Design for Logistics), and DFC (Design for Cost) principles across all technical evaluations.
- Provide engineering input to improve design efficiency and reduce production risks.
- Mentor and grow the team of product technical and development, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning
2. Technical Documentation & Standardization
- Review technical drawings (2D/3D), BOMs, product specs, and packaging instructions.
- Ensure all technical documents are accurate, up-to-date, and standardized across product lines.
- Maintain a centralized Technical Specification Library (TSL).
3. Vendor Coordination
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure clear understanding of technical requirements.
- Lead technical discussions during sample development, from golden samples to production trials.
- Conduct product reviews and validate supplier capacity for complex builds.
4. Testing & Quality Alignment
- Define appropriate testing standards (ASTM, BIFMA, EN, etc.) based on product type and region.
- Coordinate with QA/QC to perform internal testing or external lab certifications.
- Support root cause analysis and solutions for technical failures during development or after launch.
5. Process Improvement & Automation
- Develop and implement checklists for DFM–DFL–DFC evaluation during concept and pre-production phases.
- Recommend and apply AI/CAD tools to automate repetitive technical tasks such as BOM generation, drawing conversion, etc.
- Plan and allocate resources, manage timelines, identify risks, and ensure projects deliver on schedule with expected quality
- Continuously optimize technical approval workflows to reduce lead time.
6. Cross Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with all stakeholder to translate user insights into technically feasible, business - aligned solutions.
● Must Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in technical product development (preferably furniture or home goods).
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor).
- Strong knowledge of furniture materials, structures, joinery, and hardware.
- Familiarity with international testing standards and product safety regulations.
- Leadership & mentorship: ability to guide, motivate and develop a creative technical team, foster collaboration and strong design culture.
- Communication & stakeholder management: articulate technical vision and rationale clearly to cross-functional stakeholders.
- Project and process management: manage technical workflow, timelines, resource allocation and ensure high-quality deliverables on schedule.
- Analytical problem‑solving & user empathy: translate user research and feedback into decisions that address user needs and business objectives.
● Nice to Have
- Experience working with global sourcing teams and offshore vendors (e.g., China, Vietnam).
- Experience using PLM or ERP systems for technical data management.
- Knowledge of packaging optimization and sustainability standards.
- Ability to use AI tools or scripts to automate technical tasks.
- Experience in building and scaling a technical system or component library across multiple platforms or product lines.
Prior involvement in user research initiatives, usability testing, and iterative technical refinement based on metrics and feedback.
