  • As part of GrabPay Regional Team, the MasterCard Prepaid program team’s mandate will be to scale cashless payment across SEA by working with in-country and cross functional teams to develop hyper-local strategy and go-to-market plan to help solve one of the biggest challenges in SEA economies – cash

  • The Mastercard Prepaid Program team oversees overall strategy, growth and P&L of the prepaid program across SEA region, with initial focus on Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam

  • The team focuses on leveraging OneGrab assets and build strong partnerships with external and internal stakeholders to drive consumer engagement, delivering profitable growth, while bringing positive impacts in the local economies


Get to know the Role:

The In-Country Portfolio Manager for the Mastercard program is expected to support Regional Business Owner for the program, and work within Grab Financial Group to unlock the value of our partnership with Mastercard to offer both virtual and physical prepaid solutions to GrabPay users in the specific market. This solution is an important extension to GrabPay, moving us one step closer to becoming an Asean wallet. By enabling MasterCard prepaid, for the first time, GrabPay users who are underbanked and unbanked will be able to shop online and offline at merchants globally where MasterCard is accepted. Key deliverables of this role include:

  • Opportunity Assessments

    • Support Regional Business Owner to define business needs, potential opportunities and new revenue streams with measures of success in the market

    • Proactively engage with scheme partner in the market to analyze business opportunities and emerging customer needs to identify growth opportunities, scale Grab's payment ecosystem for GrabPay in the market

    • Support Regional Business Owner to develop and improve the GrabPay Prepaid value propositions relevant to the market, and implement the MasterCard Prepaid program rollout in each market

  • Revenue and P&L Ownership

    • Support Regional Business Owner to drive revenue model, key revenue levers, and execute promotions

    • Drive performance of GrabPay Prepaid program to achieve acquisition targets and OKRs, in close alignment with GrabPay OKRs for the market

    • Drive the country’s monthly, quarterly and annual targets for MasterCard Prepaid Program with the associated reporting country P&L for GrabPay

  • Stakeholder Management

    • Partner closely with internal teams (product, legal, sales, marketing, customer experience, technology, engineering, analytics) and all key stakeholders in the market with regional alignment across all verticals to ensure success of GrabPay Prepaid Program, best leveraging and optimizing OneGrab assets and capabilities

  • Partner Management
    • Strengthen partnership engagement in the market to accelerate GrabPay’s growth, with key market players including MasterCard, strategic merchants, regulatory entities and technology providers to build and enhance program value propositions and customer engagement

  • Business Analytics Tracking

    • Closely track business metrics and analytics, and works with all internal and external stakeholders to identify and resolve issues for the market



The must haves:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required

  • Effective strategic planning, presentation skills and execution, business modelling and data analysis (MS Office, Google Docs / Sheets / Slides). Project management experience is a plus.

  • Excellent in partner negotiations, problem solving, analytical abilities, sales consulting, pipeline management and forecasting

  • Excellent command of written and spoken English, with business knowledge to write and speak in another Southeast Asian language as an added advantage

  • Mature profile with at least 3-5 years of experience in Corporate Strategy/ Business Development/ Key Account Management/ Strategic Partnerships/ Management Consulting roles, with great understanding of market landscape and competitive environment on payments

  • Experience in fast paced sectors such as management consulting, technology, digital media, fintech, payment, telcos ventures and/ or high growth startups driving transformational growth

  • People skills & attributes:

    • Interpersonal skills to effectively network within the company across verticals and functions

    • Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills to manage both internal and external stakeholders

    • Self-driven and highly motivated individual who has demonstrated credentials and experiences to work well in a startup VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous) environment; with a deep desire to excel and develop a career in a fast growing tech company
