Executive recruitment company Monroe Consulting Group Vietnam is recruiting on behalf of one of the leading brand management specifically for their footwear brand. Our respected multinational client is seeking a material engineering professional with experience in footwear manufacturing and in related industries. The job is based in Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam. This is a very excellent job opportunity. The winning candidate will report to Material Supply Chain Manager.

Job summary:

• Monitor material usage with optimize material co-efficiency across Asia region. Collaborate with relative party to establish material cutting best practice and agree usage. Manage the material function within the located country from development to bulk.

• Driving innovation, performance and value for assigned material categories and T2 following category product and material strategies. Encourage collaboration across categories, suppliers and along the entire supply chain to intensify progress and communication.

• Act as primary material contact and stay on top of material issue/communication of located country and assigned material categories, with focus on material development/innovation. Ensuring material integrity and driving all related material development activity through to production.


Material coefficient engineering

• Set up optimize material coefficient for leather and other core upper material base on shoe category/style and material article, with work with relative party on engineering material cutting.

• Review material coefficient and set up material standard and acceptable cutting tolerance during material development stage.

• Establish cutting best practise and drive to implement across the region. Provide education to internal team or factory cutting room.

• Monitor material coefficient and factory cutting room performance, ensure meet brand standard and make action plan if necessary

• Build material usage database to indicate material performance.

• Work with team to provide solution to any problem related to material cutting coefficient.

Material Innovation

• Drive assigned material category excellence with development/innovation on raw material, construction, pattern, process, finishing, chemical and machinery.

• Identify assigned material category opportunities for the category that fit their needs or provide some type of strategic advantage, i.e. sustainable, point of difference, costing advantage, sourcing advantage, material trend advantage, etc.

• Involve deeply in assigned supply chain to T2, T3, and T4 to work on material innovation kitchen to drive material innovation& sustainability with setting up clear spec, standard, process and benefit;

• Monitor and assure material development meet requirement and pass customer test;

• Keep up with innovation and new technology on assigned material category;

• Act as the primary resource to product creation for related assigned material sourcing, negotiation, approval;

Supply chain management

• Manage material in located country collaborate with local team and T1 and T2 to ensure consistency quality and delivery;

• Pro-actively work on material risk management and provide countermeasure from material engineering perspective;

• Be the first material contact window in located country for material communication and troubleshooting;

• Seamless transfer from material development to material production;

• Establishes a strong rapport and knowledge of assigned material vendor gauging their strengths and weakness with regards to development, service, quality, capacity, delivery and costs.

• Implement appropriate performance evaluation/T2 KPI to optimize supply chain and identify opportunity to improve;

• Build and maintain a strong business relationship with vendors in located country;

• Communicate company’s social and environmental policy and requirement to vendors, implement RSL management program and across material supply chain;

• Manage material supply chain visibility to ensure the CR compliance, traceability and identify opportunity to reduce material source footprint.

Key job requirements include:

•    4 year college or university degree with emphasis on material leather, textile, polymer or chemical engineering background;

•    Solid technical knowledge and 3-5 years’ rich experience on footwear material cutting coefficient skill and management.

•    Additional working experience of some of the following categories will be helpful: tannery, textile, rubber, EVA, PU, internal components or laboratory.

•    Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, POWERPOINT and other office software;

•    Continuous improvement techniques (Lean, Kazen) is helpful

•    Great team player
