GFSA team is responsible for end to end conceptualization, design, development, execution and ongoing management of all lending activities in its focus markets and segments.

More About the role:

As the Lead Database Engineer, GFG is looking for Lead for the DBA team with hands-on Database Administration skills. He/She should be capable of mentoring a team of highly skilled DBAs who are responsible for delivering highly available, scalable and reliable Databases on 24*7*354 (Uptime 99.99%). Will be responsible for a variety of technical, operational, and consultative activities, for all the products and services under GFG. He/She should be capable of thinking ‘product’ & ’self-serve’ first. Will also be responsible for providing a high quality of systems support by researching, tracking and resolving escalated issues.

Roles & responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor a team of highly skilled DBAs.

• Work with Engineering team(s) and other stakeholders to shape Database service/platform roadmap.

• Being Database SME, entitled as point of contact for any DB escalations.

• Worked towards and ensure database uptime 99.99%.

• Able to drive innovation & automation in the DBA team to deliver at a high pace and for scale.

• Lead and drive the efforts in new  technology evaluations and adopting by performing benchmarking and PoCs.

Experience & qualifications:

• 8+ years of hands on experience managing production databases at scale.

• Must have +4 years of experience in MySQL.

• Must have sound knowledge on any of NoSQL (Cassandra/Mongo/Scylla) datastores.

• Hands-on experience on PostgreSQL is an added advantage.

• Experienced with topologies and technologies used to provision and run high performing and highly available databases.

• Good exposure and understanding to do automation in and around Databases.

• Has experience running and owning databases with 99.99% uptime availability 

• Has worked on one or more public clouds - e.g.: AWS/Azure

• Has done POCs and published white papers / scorecards (for evaluations).

• Should be managing a DBA team already and is a capable leader who can mentor and lead a team of highly skilled and capable database engineers.

• Is good with capacity planning (teams & systems).

• Must have good experience in security best practice and implementation.

• Any experience/exposure to creating/running database platform will be a plus.

• Exposure to DevOps methodologies

• Exposure to Compliance controls and procedures (e.g.: PCI, HIPAA , Fedramp)

• Familiar with SCRUM / SPRINT.
