GrabInsure is part of Grab Financial Group, which includes GrabPay, GrabFinance as well as our up-and-coming Wealth and Digital Banking businesses. GrabInsure’s mission is to design and deliver innovative insurance that enables millions of people in Southeast Asia better protect themselves and their families against life’s uncertainties. We have already launched several “first-of-their-kind” products including micro-health and Usage Based Auto Insurance. 

To help us execute on our mission we are looking for someone to lead the Commercial team in GrabInsure. You will have domain knowledge in insurance distribution; know how to drive execution working with multiple stakeholders and be an effective problem solver. 

Get to know your role:

You will have overall responsibility for the Commercial function in GrabInsure. The key aspects of the role are building go-to-market strategies and then driving effective execution of commercial aspects of insurance product development.

  • Be a ‘do-to’ person in the team for insurance domain knowledge and insights 

  • Help define our go-to-market strategy as part of the leadership team, including market entry, product and distribution strategy, partner strategy  

  • Lead a small regional team, who manage all aspects of commercial for GrabInsure and are seen as the internal insurance experts 

  • Build and manage insurer relationships, covering product co-creation, partner selection, senior stakeholder engagement, commercial negotiations  

  • Build trusted relationships with regulators by ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and communicating our strategy and priorities 

  • Build relationships and Influence internal stakeholders to help align priorities, including across product management, tech and marketing   

  • Manage revenue forecasting, budgeting and reporting from online and offline initiatives 

  • Set in place effective processes to ensure effective execution - OKR’s, project management, communications 

The must haves: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in any field (preferably in business, management or finance)

  • Prior insurance industry experience (at least 8 years) in business development, commercial, partnership or consulting roles

  • Deep understanding of insurance products, regulations and distribution strategies 

  • Experience in a start-up /entrepreneurial environment is a plus

  • Demonstrate strong track record in project management, including the use of frameworks, tools and processes to ensure effective execution in a dynamic environment 

  • Demonstrate a strong record of effective prioritisation in dynamic environment, high attention-to-detail and well developed communication tactics with multiple stakeholders

  • Ability to present and engage with senior management, to influence and convince 

  • Ability to use and interpret data to make strategic decisions

  • Experience in working with multiple teams, including marketing, ops, product

  • Proficiency in English, and preferably, in 1 other Asian language

  • 8 years+ working experience

  • Willingness to travel in Southeast Asia (~20 - 40%)
