The SRE team owns the platform responsible for running the Grab Financial Group businesses. We architect solutions, tools and platforms around provisioning, configuration, CICD, monitoring, SLA, performance and uptime. Our team is passionate about the details and we work very closely with a wide range of stakeholders. The team owns the Uptime for GFG while maintains the technical OKRs for the group.

Get to know the Role:

- Demonstrated ability to design, build, and deliver complex, successful web services and/or customer experiences efficiently and with quality

- Identify and resolve problems relating to critical service operations and to prevent their recurrence using different methods of automation

- Help improve reliability, stability and tackle scalability challenges with engineering teams

- Ability to clearly communicate high level strategy and technical details effectively across disciplines, locations, and organizations, including to senior leadership.

- Strong bias for action; ability to juggle multiple priorities and build a sense of urgency in a dynamic environment.

- Proven team leadership, interpersonal skills, and ability to get things done

- Mentor other engineers, define our technical culture, and help build a fast-growing team

The day-to-day activities:

- Devise & implement solutions which will stop problems which are yet to happen (prevention is better than cure!)

- If there is a task for everyone to do, fix it such that no one needs to do it.

- Identify and resolve problems relating to critical service operations and to prevent their recurrence using different methods of automation

- Be involved in the design and subsequent implementation of software and service infrastructure

- Mentor and grow other engineers, define our technical culture, and help build a fast-growing team

- Budgeting for annual capex and opex costs, working with finance and procurement team on the same.

- Quarterly OKRs alignment with business

The must haves:

- Preferably a degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology or related fields

- 10+ years of relevant experience with managing IT infrastructure with focus on the unix platforms

- Possess a solid understanding of the Linux or FreeBSD/OpenBSD family of Operating Systems and their underlying components

- Possess analytical skills, mental resiliency and the ability to think systematically under stressful conditions

- Highly accountable and takes ownership. Outstanding work ethic, high-integrity, team player, and a lifelong learner

- Experience in one or more of: C, C++, Java, Perl, Python, Go, or scripting experience in Shell

- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and work effectively across the organization.

Nice to Have:

- Experience with cloud computing technologies from vendors such as Amazon Web Services, Google Compute Engine, Digital Ocean

- Configuration management tool experience such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet or SaltStack

- Experience with continuous integration and/or continuous deployment

- Experience with hardening systems and knowledge in information security

- Contributes to open source project Experience with performance analysis and debugging tools
