The Growth team at Grab strategizes and executes on step changing growth initiatives through data-driven approaches and rapid a/b testing, and owns the conception, execution, and experimentation of products, features and engineering systems that drive this mandate.

Get to know the Role: ​

As the very first engineering manager in Growth Jakarta, you are responsible for building and leading a highly productive engineering team which builds hyperlocal products and features for our Indonesian customers and regional customers across SEA. You will define the vision and strategy of Growth Jakarta engineering center, hire the right people and build the team, ensure fast and excellent execution and always deliver great results to outserve our customers.

The day-to-day activities:

  • Recruit, interview, and close top talents.

  • Mentor and coach engineers on the team.

  • Contribute to and lead the direction of the growth team.

  • Collaborate with the product, business, design, and data team to be on top of your deliverable.

  • Collaborate with engineering teams in other locations to ensure a unified engineering vision.

  • Timely delivery of highly reliable and scalable engineering architecture, and high quality, maintainable and operationally excellent code.

The must haves:

  • Significant experience as a successful software development leader, preferably in delivering B2C products/services/content.

  • Experience in building and growing a highly productive software engineering team.

  • Demonstrated ability to design, build, and deliver complex, successful engineering systems or products efficiently and with high quality.

  • Proven team leadership, interpersonal skills, and ability to get things done.

  • Ability to clearly communicate high-level strategy and technical details effectively across disciplines, locations, and organizations.

  • Strong bias for action; ability to juggle multiple priorities and build a sense of urgency in a dynamic environment.

  • Burning desire to build magical experiences for our customers.
