Position Summary
The Engineering Design Manager is responsible for coordinating and managing external engineering consultants in the development and delivery of all design packages for EPC projects in power generation plants, high-voltage substations, and transmission lines. The role ensures that all consultant deliverables are technically sound, compliant with applicable standards, constructible, and aligned with procurement and construction requirements. This position acts as the central technical integrator across all interfaces—including clients, consultants, OEM vendors, authorities, and site teams.
Key Responsibilities – Design Consultant Management
• Source, and manage external engineering and design consultants.
• Prepare scopes of work, design briefs, and technical requirements.
• Monitor consultant performance against schedule, quality, and contract.
• Lead PC1 engineering team to review and approve design deliverables.
• Manage variations, technical clarifications, and contractual issues.
Power Project Design Coordination
• Coordinate electrical, mechanical, civil, structural, and control systems.
• Ensure constructability and maintainability.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
• Ensure compliance with standards/codes.
• Manage regulatory submissions.
• Maintain strict document control.
Procurement & Construction Support
• Coordinate with consultant in the tendering stage.
• Evaluate vendor proposals and integrate vendor data.
• Respond to RFIs and resolve design issues.
• Manage IFC and as-built documentation.
Project Controls & Reporting
• Maintain design schedules, deliverable registers, and reports.
• Identify risks and track design variations.
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil Engineering.
• 10+ years in EPC power projects; 5+ years managing design consultants.
Technical & Soft Skills
• Strong engineering understanding of power plants, substations, transmission lines.
• Excellent English
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving.
• Ability to go to work in project sites in Vietnam and oversea.
