Job requirement

Summary/Objective: The Customer Quality Engineer is responsible for investigation and defining root cause and corrective actions for customer quality problems. They are responsible for the communication to the customer in regard to data gathering, customer updates, and corrective action reports.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

1. Manage customer concerns and ensure they are resolved in a timely manner

2. Work with other departments to establish the root cause and corrective actions on customer concerns

3. Work directly with customers via telephone, email, or other to resolve quality issues

4. Work with customers and Samtec associates globally to resolve customer quality issues; this may require domestic and international travel and off-hours communications.

5. Investigate customer issues, write corrective action reports as requested based on system-established or customer requested due dates.

6. Educate other groups as needed in regard to inspection, rework or new processing details

7. Provide backup within the Customer Quality Department.

8. Provide input to engineering groups about quality issues and history to improve existing or new designs

9. Work within the established guidelines as defined by the quality system, Corporate Procedures, and Work Instructions etc.

10. Work to protect Samtec and our customers from ongoing quality issues

Job requirement

Required Experience:

  1. Must have experience in industry accepted root cause, problem solving, and corrective action techniques like, but not limited to, 5-Why’s, 8D reports, Fish-bone approach, and various statistical tools.
  2. Must be able to sit for more than 90 consecutive minutes, and not suffer from any sensory deprivation and/or paralysis of the limbs.
  3. Hazards and Atmospheric Conditions: Must be willing to adhere to department safety rules and regulations.  May be exposed to noise (required to wear protective gear).  May be exposed to Hazardous Materials & Chemicals (required to wear safety glasses and other protective gear).

Education:

1.     Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineer or other technical discipline.

2.     Two-year degree or technical training background required.
