Job Description

For our Accounting Team we are hiring a fresh mind for this very challenging supporting role in a very fast growing business and within a high performing team as Accounting Supervisor

What we can offer you! Your Role: 

The Accounting Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of employees who post and balance books of account, such as cash book, general journal, sales book, purchase register and general and subsidiary ledgers. This individual acts as the accounting team lead and oversees the preparation of balance sheets and profit and loss statements, coding of invoices and vouchers with proper account distribution.

Activities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide technical and administrative supervision to the general accounting function, maintain integrity of financial reporting systems, and provide analytical support regarding financial statements and general ledger.

  • Support and assist in the close process.  Complete analysis; analyze information for accuracy and completeness. 

  • Support and assist in the Annual Operating Plan process.  Review cost center budgets.  Ensure plan is accurate and realistic.

  • Ensure all tasks are assigned and performed on time.  Prioritize time to focus on biggest issues.

  • Responsible for daily general ledger activities, account reconciliations, workload distribution and assignment of tasks.

  • Prepare monthly account analysis of balance sheet accounts, develop adjusting entries as needed, and review status of all significant accounts.

  • Coordinate the preparation and entry of month-end journal entries.

  • Maintain and analyze actual costs to estimates/budgets.  Determine and analyze variances.

  • Support all managers regarding inquires of monthly financial results.

  • Prepare required financial reports for corporate accounting as well as those required for generation of internal financial package.

  • Interact with various departments to resolve problems, perform research and provide support.

  • Direct the processing and documenting of invoices.

  • Review and reconcile assigned accounts, check and resolve discrepancies.

  • Demonstrate and inspire integrity. Anticipate questions, issues and challenges from management, external audit, etc. Avoid financial surprises.  Anticipate questions and challenges. Stay current with requirements. Keep management informed of any issues or gaps.

  • Ensure accuracy of analysis. Challenge assumptions. Ensure compliance.

  • Work quality standards and planned schedules are maintained. 

  • Perform various activities to backup and maintain the flow of work in the department.

  • Ensure supervised department meets daily/ annual goals.  Assess and suggest new procedures and processes to increase efficiency

  • Manage the General Accounting area.  Organize work processes, methods and procedures; establish and monitor controls to evaluate unit performance.

What we expect from you! Your Expertise:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field.   
  • 7+ years accounting or related experience with supervisory or lead experience a plus. 
  • Thoroughly understands the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of accounting and general ledger.
  • Excellent analytical skills and knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles are essential. 
  • Understanding of applicable computer systems, such as Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes and function specific software.
  • Excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills. 
  • Good project management and business partnering skills.
  • Possess effective supervisory skills. 
  • Knowledge of applicable state, federal and tax laws.
  • Excellent audit skills.
  • Full bilingual Spanish-English
